Build or buy
Build it yourself, or buy it ready?
Plenty of finance teams can build their own reporting with an API, a spreadsheet and a BI tool. The first version is rarely the hard part. Keeping it right every month, for every company and every system, is.
Building it yourself
What the home-built version has to do, every month.
- An integration for every system, kept working when its API changes
- History stored somewhere, so last year is still there next year
- Every company's chart of accounts mapped into one structure
- Currencies converted the same way in every report
- Every company's figures quality-checked, every month
- A new company connected and mapped after every acquisition
- Access for the people who need it, and only them
- Someone who still knows how it all works when the person who built it leaves
Side by side
The same reports, two ways to keep them running.
| Build it yourself | Enhanza | |
|---|---|---|
| First reports | Once the integrations, the model and the reports are built | After the first sync, with ready-made financial statements on Standard and Professional |
| A new company or system | Another integration and another mapping | Connect it, and it joins the same model |
| Several currencies | An exchange-rate table someone keeps up to date | One reporting currency for every company, on Professional |
| When an API changes | Your developer or consultant fixes it | Our team fixes it |
| Who knows how it works | The person who built it | Our team, for every customer |
| Cost | Developer or consultant time, plus hosting, every month | One subscription, with the upkeep included |
| Your own BI tools | Whatever you build for | Power BI, Excel, Google Sheets, Looker Studio and more |
To be fair
When building it yourself is the right call.
Buying is not always the answer. Build it yourself when one of these is true.
- You have a data team whose job is exactly this, with time to build and maintain it
- Your systems aren't in our list of integrations and won't be soon
- You need logic so specific to your business that no product would cover it
- Your data can't leave your own infrastructure

FAQ
Questions people ask.
Can we still build our own reports on top of Enhanza?
Yes. Enhanza keeps the data synced and structured, and your own Power BI, Excel, Google Sheets or Looker Studio connects straight to it. Build exactly what you want; skip the part that keeps it running.
What happens to our data if we stop using Enhanza?
Your systems keep all of their own data. Enhanza holds a synced copy, and when you disconnect a company, its data is deleted from Enhanza.
We already have a consultant who built our reports. Why switch?
Often you don't have to. Your consultant points the reports at Enhanza instead of at exports or their own integrations, and the upkeep of the data moves to us.
